Wheaton College (Ill.) Isaac Odell wins CCIW wrestling Championship at 184-pounds
Thunder junior Isaac Odell won the conference title at 184-pounds. He opened the tournament with a fall just 1:18 into his in first-round match against Sebastian Zaragoza of Elmhurst. Odell won a 9-4 decision against Millikin's Griffin Meeker in the semifinal. The Thunder junior picked up his first career conference championship with a 1-0 decision against against Cody Baldridge of North Central in the championship match. Odell picked up the win on an escape just six seconds into the second period to take a 1-0 lead and he hung on to earn the 1-0 decision. Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time. Wheaton College (Ill.) Isaac Odell is named the CCIW Wrestler of the Week
Wheaton junior Isaac Odell has each been the first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week. Odell is the first wrestler to earn the recognition for the 2018-19 season. This selection marks the second time that Odell has earned the award, also picking up the recognition on December 12, 2018. Odell opened the 2018-19 season with a 4-0 record and the 184-pound individual title at the Messiah Invitational last Saturday. He recorded four pins in the tournament and none of his matches went to a second period. His combined pin time for the four matches was just over eight minutes. Odell pinned Ursinus' Malcolm Hunt (2:03) in the first round and he recorded a pin of Liberty's Wallace Canada just 1:08 into their quarterfinal match. Odell's pin of Messiah's Brian Shermeyer was at the 3:00 mark of their semifinal match. His final pin of the day came against Gettysburg's Daniel Ebert at 2:08 of the championship match at 184-pounds.

Christmas at Concordia weekend kicks off the holiday season
Four Christmas at Concordia concerts brought more than 3,000 guests, including Seward County residents, residents from Nebraska and other states, Concordia alumni, students, and others to St. John Lutheran Church near campus. The concerts featured the Women's Cantamus Choir, Male Chorus, Concordia Handbell Choir, University Brass Ensemble, University A Cappella Choir and University Symphonic Band.

Iowa State students study historic preservation and planning in Stockholm
Fourteen Iowa State University students from a variety of majors traveled to Stockholm, Sweden, over spring break in March to work on a planning project involving the US Embassy and learn about its design, its role in the history of US diplomacy, its place in the Swedish capital's urban fabric and its future as the primary physical link between the governments of the US and Sweden. The project was part of the ISU/US Department of State Cultural Heritage Documentation project, a unique partnership between the ISU College of Design and the US Department of State Office of Cultural Heritage.
